I noticed that while on highway my throttle seems to "slip" and I have to keep adjusting my hand position up - thought this might tighten it a bit. But don't like messing with things I know nothing about......my old Yamaha didn't have this.

Advice??

Why would you lock your throttle for warming up purposes? Is letting the bike idle for a minute or two not enough? Does an idling engine not generate heat?

Seriously...this thread has me LMGDAO!

i was under the impression that it was to adjust how fast your throttle returns to its original position when you let off of it, but hey what do i know

If it's what I think you are talking about, it adjusts the tension on the throttle. It's #13 in this picture: Throttle Assembly

That's exactly the part I'm talking about. Have had various different answers as to it's purpose. Wonder if tightening it a little would help with the "slipping" of the throttle that I feel on the highway..? Guess I can call my dealership in the morning. If it's just "poor mans cruise control" I'll likely never use it.

Thanks for the info

voudoujoe. IMO you are correct ...... it's got nothing to do with being a cruise control. If your having trouble with your throttle .... why not get your dealer to fix it .... isn't that what warranty is for

Throttle lock, screw it in with thumb and you can relax you grip or even remove your hand, make it tight enough to hold, and you can still physically twist your throttle off, you do have 2 throttle cables so it won't be like you can't back throttle off in an emergency.
