I am in the same position right now, had the fender painted, found some 3m tape I need to pick up, automotive type. Anyone else use this?

3M makes a double sided "Super strength" molding tape that works awesome PN. 03614

your bike should have a metal tab along the edge of the fender that the wires run thru.

I replaced the wiring harness at 3,000 miles when I had it repainted. The bike has 123K on it now and it hasn't come loose.

Maybe the original owner removed and reinstalled it without cleaning the mating surface on the fender, causing it to come loose prematurely.

Yeah, I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on bikes over the years and only replaced it that one time. Even then, it was my fault I had to replace it.

Maybe I'll just swing by the harley shop tomorrow and see about getting the harness ordered. I'd rather replace everything instead of just splicing a few inches where it touched the tire.

Thanks for the help. Josh

Okay, after going to one dealer, I was told by 2 different guys "i don't think we can get just that part of the harness." So, pissed off, I called another local dealer who is another half hour drive away and they knew exactly what I was talking about and they had it on the shelf. So away I went, picked it up and noticed that the conduit and wire were in two different packages...problem with that is the plugs on both ends of the wire don't fit through the conduit. Am I missing something? I normally don't have problems figuring things like this out, but I don't see how this is supposed to work. Any help?

can you remove the pins from the plug like you can on the Amp connectors?

Mine did not have the connectors attached, but the pins can be removed - how to in the service manual.

If you have trouble with it (they can be a pain), any dealer can remove the connector for you, put it in the conduit and reconnect it.
