I came from a Nightster in July, and couldn't be happier. The Sporty was fun for zipping around locally, but anything more than that was more work than pleasure. 6th gear is a huge plus. At 80 she chugs along at 3,000rpm's. The ride is obviously much smoother. One of my favorite features so far has been the lockable hard bags. Now I can keep my rain gear on board all the time, and I don't have to wear a backpack anymore! The one thing I wish they would have done was put a heel toe shifter on, but I'm sure something will pop up eventually. I was originally set on the Fatbob, but I kept telling myself the hard bags and floorboards were a huge advantage for distance riding. I know I made the right choice!
