Default Primary Leak

I did a fairly long (315) mile ride yesterday in 95 degree heat. Bike ran great all day but this morning as I was walking through the garage to go to work I noticed a small droplet of oil under my primary. I got down and there was a small amount on the drain plug. Cleaned it up and checked the plug. It was tight. Suggestions?

Get the oil change seal kit and change all three holes, you get three new o-rings for the drain plugs and a new derby cover gasket. Job done.

Appreciate the reply. I just changed all three holes about 600 miles ago. Haven't had a problem till now. May I suffered CRS and forgot the new seals?

only you would know that - did you put new o-rings on the drain plugs and torque to spec?

I'll go to HD tomorrow and get a new seal and quart of primary oil.
Thanks

feel the back side of the primary... up torwards the drive pulley... if its oily there its something else, probably the inner primary seal... it runs down the back and drips of the plug...

I think you're right. I ran my hand up the back side and it came back oily. Is this a complex fix?

I'd install a new hd o-ring on the plug. I'd first make sure before I reinstalled the plug that there ain't no rubber piece of the old o ring up in the hole first. Use wifes cosmetic mirror works well. She won't mind.

Wipe everything down including that oil up under by the pulley and go for another jaunt. You'll find it. This sets you back about 1 dollar.

Update.....I'm wrong...your going to need another qt of primary fluid and a new gasket for the derby. Probably up to 20 bucks now...or close to.

You are right about the 20 bucks. Picked up 1 quart primary oil, 1 o-ring, and derby gasket about an hour ago. $20.19

I just hope that is the fix. Seems like a bad inner primary seal replacement could be PITA

Thanks
