Looking for a new tank for my 96 FXD. They seem to be readily available for the 97 - 03 models, but not so much for the 96 and lower.

Looking at pics, the 97 tank looks identical.

Anyone have any idea what the difference/s could be?

Not sure of the differences , but I installed a 1993 tank to my 2002 and it bolted right up with no mods.I know the early 90's tank have the petcock more up front then the newer tanks.

 

Thanks rob that helps. My petcock is all the way back. From what I understand, and have been told, they will fit and work. Your info seems to confirm that.

 

Only real difference in Dyna tanks is how the console looks and bolts on. If it has the same mounting style and gauges it would be a straight bolt on.
