Looks like my next long trip may be to Sturgis! A few guys that I ride with have started planning for 2015. Assuming I am not deployed Im there! Of course it will be on my long-haul Wide Glide!!!
A few years ago a buddy of mine rode his Superglide from LA to here in one day, around 750 miles. The next day we rode to Sturgis, about 800 miles. No problem.

And what ungodly time of a morning did you get up for 800 miles in a day?
It isn't a matter of what time you get up.
More a function of how long you stay in the saddle and how fast you ride.
Wheels turning = Good
Wheels stopped = Bad

The bike's ability is never the question when it comes to Dynas. My OLD BONEY butt ain't staying in the saddle that long. If I am going 800 miles it is going to take me at least 2 days. The joys of retirement
I think the most I did in one day was about 550 miles. More than that is definitely do-able, but for me personally, "enjoyable" is not anything I would associate with numbers larger than that.

Cool,
But this whole post is about Dynas for long distances.

Yep, I get that. Coast to coast I feel qualifies as long distance. Just putting in my .02 on my experience on how many miles I prefer to tackle in a day.

Up at around 4:30, on the road by 5:00, arrive in camp around 7:30, at One Eyed Jacks by around 9:30 or 10:00. Like Jonesee says:

The fact that I've got a lot of seat time in by August allows my bony *** to be in the saddle all day without any problems. That and I'm riding solo so I can move around. If I had a passenger I couldn't do as long of a day.
The thought of one of these gals serving me a beer at One Eyed Jacks keeps me going for the last couple of hours.
