Rpm's
Hello All;
Just curious, What is the RPM range on a 96 in. engine. What would you call lugging, what would you call over reving. Mine seems happy between 2200 and2800. I hate the vibration when I get in the mid 3000.
Just wondering. Thanks.

theres no real reason to cruise above 3k unless your doing 90+mph
below 2k and above 5k arent real happy.
im mostly between 2500-3000 unless im trying to pass someone. or merge with fast traffic/short onramp. then i dont shift till 5k or so.
when lane splitting i generally dont shift out of second gear. it'll go fast enough that if i need to shift i just merge with the traffic and i rarely get slowed down enough to downshift.
vibes dont kick in on my fatbob till over 4k. and under 2k. everything between those is pretty smooth.
stock rev limit is 5500, stage1 download is 6200 or so (thats what the fuel moto map set mine to).

I think you are going to get a multitude of answers depending on set-ups, mods, riding habits, etc...
For me 3200 is perfect for cruising, anything below 2850-2900 Im lugging. I dont usually go above 4500.
