thanks guys. i thought that too but the parts guy at the dealership said there were a few that were year and model specific. apparently fxdwg 04-05 had a seat that will not fit my bike. just trying to be sure before i purchase one.

96-03 seats from a dyna will fit, except for the 96-03 wideglides as those seats are 2 inches longer, FXDL , FXD , FXDX and FXDX-T will fit your bike
Seats from 04 up will not fit and 95 and older will not fit
