I've got fat Bob trees on my wide glide and 13" shocks in the rear. The front end only came up about 1" with the trees. The bike rides great....but what is the problem with the rake and trail??

By reducing the rake of the trees back to 0° the trail number jumps from 5.2 to 6.6. The safe trail range is 4 to 6 typically. 6.6 is well beyond that. I think there was a reason Harley used raked trees on the wide glide and it wasn't to make the bike look cooler. It was to correct the trail after raking the frame.

Playing with different fork tube lengths and different rim and tire combinations I still cant get the trail below 6 with the fat bob trees.

Saw your post on cups and raked trees. I'm going to have to do some reading on this subject. Can you give me some reference websites or where I can gather this info? My bike feels just as stable at speed as it did stock, also turns in better in the corners.

I'm not at my computer now but will post the links when I get back. Your setup is what I was going for so I'd be very interested to see what your bike measures out to.

Thanks man....the last thing I want is a sketchy set up. I'm getting ready to buy some intiminators to go with the traxions I have waiting, also have a duel disk setup to put on.

No problem. If you decide to take all the measurements and input them into that calculator let us know what you come up with.

I was able to get good trail numbers changing to 18" wheels and lowering the fork tubes 2" using the stock wide glide trees but that would lower the bike and make crappy lean angles even worse.

I'm calculating 6.1 trail. Not sure what new fork length is.....overall fork length is 33.75" to the top of the caps. Fork length should be 33.50" not including caps.

Actually I had the triple clamp offset wrong. I corrected it to 2.5" and my new trail calculation is 5.68

Cool. Sounds like you are good with your setup. I was hoping for a trail in the mid 4's but not exceeding 6 is good.

Im seriously considering just getting a used T sport and dropping a 124" in it. I think that would be better for what I want out of a bike. I think the T sport is something like 4.2 trail and has a better lean angle than my bike.
