Touring on a Wide Glide?

RE: Touring on a Wide Glide?
Went to Daytona from Dallas in March for Bike Week. Approximately 1,200 miles over 2 days. Bought a Mustang seat with back rest/support and had a heating element installed (at least the butt was warm), windshield and Kuryakin wide foot pegs with heel rests. If you ride in cool/cold weather, I would look into heated grips.

Have to say that getting a biker's friend is the way to go now that I've got one. Great back rest and can fit a ton of crap in there, when I take my trip to the Black hills in June I'll use the Biker's Friend with my other sissybar bag and I'll be able to take enough stuff for a month.

I have a set of Leather Works saddle bags with easy mounts, a Leather Works T bag, a fork bag and a clamp on windsheild and a Mustang seat. I can put it all on in under two minutes. I can pack enough to stay gone a week and ride comfortable.
However, I can't pack enough to ride my wife for a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've done about 2k miles in 5 days, doing a cross-country bike ride... on a street bob.
Mustang seat, forward controls, lindby bars with highway pegs. Wide iso-footpegs with stirrups and adjusted my apes to be forward a bit higher for comfort. Iso "old school" rubber grips.
Outside of weather factors, it's more comfy than a lot of cars I've been in.

I have a 2006 Wide, and a 2007 Road King. When I plan a long trip, I almost always go Wide Glide! Yeah, weird, some would say. But I love my Wide, and it's an able tourer with H-D hard leather bags, a fender rack & sissy-bar bag, and my tent/pad/bag stacked on the pax seat area makes for a MOST comfortable backrest! The other secret is the H-D Touring or Sundowner seat...easy 500-mile day seats! FWIW.
