"Sure you can get a sport bike for that price and yep it'll be fast as hell. But hey if speed is your thing maybe you should look there. If you would like a quality motorcycle then spend the money and buy a harley. Coming from sport bikes myself I can attest to the quality difference, it's unreal. Everything on a Honda is plastic, I mean literally everything that doesn't have to be metal, is cheap flimsy plastic. A harley is exactly the opposite, everything on it is quality and metal. They don't skimp on anything and that's where you get what you pay for comes from." shodown220
Speed has been my thing for a long time. Been riding one sports bike after another since 1991:
1991 Honda CBR 600 F2
1993 Honda CBR 900 RR
1997 Honda CBR 1100 XX
2003 Kawasaki ZZR 1200
2011 Suzuki GSXR 600
I am looking to transition to a cruiser. The LR fits the bill and the ones I test rode were solid, well-made bikes. I just wish they were a little less. A windshield and a Stage 1 upgrade is going to run about $1500-2000. Would like to get the whole thing done for less than $15,000.

That's all that matters. I just don't associate not riding in the rain as a big deal when it comes to caring for modern vehicles. These aren't the old Detroit rust buckets of past. Now, if it were an antique Duesenberg .....

Had not heard of this model before. I only started looking at HDs in May 2014. Seems 2013 was the last year for this model. Looked at some and have to say it is a good looking bike. A few things I did not like were:
1. single front disc brake
2. no tach
3. 96 CI motor
4. about 20 lbs heavier than the LR
The first two items are things I have to have. I also prefer the 103 CI motor and adjustable seat and bars of the LR. I also prefer the mag styles rims of the LR. I do not like spokes.

I am now hunting for a used street bob exhaust, this is what I want to install on my LR also.

I started riding dirt bikes as a kid, 57 years old now, most of my past bikes were sport tourers from kawasaki concours, bmw r1100rt and rs, but the riding position of the FXDL at my age now is so much more comfortable, not riding with my legs bent back. remember my first street bile a 1980 suzuki GS850, back then you bought a street bike naked, and added your fairing and other accessories. this is what I am doing with my low rider.

Thanks for the offer but the LR is the only HD that fits what I am looking for. It has everything I want (dual discs, good ground clearance, adjustable bars, the seat pad, mid mount controls, a tach, great looks, low center of gravity, comfort, etc).
