2007 Superglide w/ 6 spd.

My bike is fine, no tranny probs whatsoever, running strong and clean at 1000 km's

But I'm sure hearing a lot of noise on this forum about bad/noisy tranny's

What's up with that?

Do I just have a good bike and the rest of you are unlucky?

Or are these folks just the verbal minority?

Mine is just fine. Maybe HD should put together a fleet of restored '48 Buicks and take people for a ride when they complain about gearbox noise. When my uncle was in slow traffic in his Buick, people would think it was a police siren and pull over.

 

Some people have complained about fifth gear being noisy but it has been established it's caused by it being a straight cut gear. Kinda like first gear or reverse in your car, same whine. Have heard the baggers have had some issues but not sure what they are. I haven't had any trouble out of mine either.

My 07 Ultra CVO is fine fine fine fine. I'veasked at least 20 other 07 owners (various models) and not one had issues with tranny noises. Quite likely there were a few bad trannys out there, but the vast majority seem to be just fine. On the other hand, heat and lean tunes are a real issue.

 

I thought only the 1st 13,400 06s had the tranny problem, aside from the straight cut gear thing.

1150 miles, no problems here.

 

07 bob here. My 6th gear is only noisy if I shift to it too soon.....speeds under 70 mph. Remember, 6th gear is for CRUISING at higher speeds. I'm probably preaching to the choir.

 

From what I've read, the 6 speed "problems" were isoloated to touring models, esp Electra Glides.

hummm.... i might wright a letter to harley,, my 12th gear in my peterbilt, has a whine.
musta bin that hill ten miles back, when i missed the gear ?

No problems with mine. Hell i can still hear the stock exaust so the tranny must be quiet!!
