Ok so after starting to paint the fenders and the tank and everything else I realized I didn't want to transform the entire bike and leave the mags looking like crap. So at really no additional cost I am getting my boy to paint my rims. Question is do you also paint the surface where the rotor touches where the 5 screw holes are or not? Please advise.
short answer no, do not paint any surface that another surface will mount to.
Thank you, that was my initial thought just wanted to put it out there and see others opinion. I will tape it off and stuff. Will clean it nice before taking it back to the shop at least.
What about this thing on the rim, is there benefit to keeping it on there or can I just remove before painting? I think its to indicate its OEM or soemthing am I right?
For a cleaner look you could remove the weights before painting and then add Dyna-beads through the valve stem. You would be better off to powder coat the wheels, it is far more durable and will adhere much better.

Thanks! I didn't know about Dyna beads, called my mechanic and they have it and can do it for me when I bring everything back. I will do that for a cleaner look like you said. I was going to powdercoat different rims because I actually don't like spokes but I spent WAY too much already in the bike doing everything I want to it. This is a more cost affective way than leaving it as they are and you can see from the pics above that isn't pretty. So I am sanding it down, cleaning them, bulldog, priming and my boy is painting them and putting clear coat on top.
