103-113": 2015 FLHTKL, Stage II, Andrews-48, FM A/C, FM 2-1-2 SS Ceramic Header, FM e-Series 12 discs (blue) and V&H Monster Oval (red)
#3
The short answer is a little more aggressive than stock while still being smooth throughout the rev'ing band.
The longer answer is that I also swapped out my head pipe and slip-on's during the Stage 2 upgrade, so it is not a true "cam to cam" comparison for me. Originally, I had the V&H PowerDuals with Crusher Mellow slip-on's (which made great Stage 1 numbers and power curves after seeing a dyno pull with the FP3 map, then having a full tune completed with the power vision). Like so many others have posted here on the forum, the PowerDuals hang lower than the frame and I experienced first hand the "riding a bucking bronco" scenario when in a righthand curve (not entering too hot or aggresive but I was leaning the bike into it). Anyway, I had to go back to stock height headers after that experience and went with FuelMoto's 2-1-2 ceramic stainless steel Jackpot (using the stock heat shields). While I was at it, I went with quieter mufflers than the Crusher Mellow's for my wife (which I regret now for the power they produced). When I had the Andrews-48's installed with the Jackpot header and e-Series mufflers (12 discs), I was disappointed with the low end torque curve as well as the minimal increase in HP. As luck would have it, I was able to pick up a pair of low mileage, reasonably priced V&H Monster Ovals (no used Crusher Mellows to be found). The Ovals picked up ~5 lbs of torque about 500 rpm's sooner than the e-series which is very noticeable and more responsive. To bad I do not have the Crusher Mellows to put back on to see the difference but I am done chasing the balance between the "power vs sound unicorn". While I still think I should have a little more on the lower end with my stage 2, I have 1. the header back to stock height (which is now my #1 concern being that my bike is the Low model), 2. quiet mufflers with the e-series which my wife likes, and 3. a little more torque where I like it when riding solo, starting at ~2,500 rpms with the Ovals (note: which are quieter than the Crusher Mellows but still have that lively but low rumble). My bike is running great when compared to stock and there is no reason for me to make any more modifications to the engine.
To see where I was coming from, click on my Stage 1 post. I could not believe what a tune did for my Stage 1.
