Glad to hear it guys. I'm going on a few weeks on the fix and no issues. Everything is working great. Hopefully others who have messed with this and heard so many different perspectives on what might be wrong will do this, and have the simplest solution to this problem.

Specifically, what kind of fuse did you install? Where did you buy it? My '98 Police bike had a reputation before I got it for being a bike with tons of electrical problems. While I'm a pretty good wrench and I know the basics of electrical stuff, I am not fluent with the lingo or expereinced enough to keep from asking such a basic question. Thanks for your indulgence.

Elderken, some posts talk about installing a "maxi-fuse" but I just went to a NAPA store and asked for a 40 amp fuse. It has posts you can put a bolt and nut through on each end and attach the wires as they were attached to the breaker. You have to tape and insulate the connections because they will not be attached to a mount unless you can rig something. Anyway, any 40 amp fuse that you think you can mount the wire connectors to will work. Good luck.

- bought a spade fuse holder.

- uses the large two pronged spade fuse found on cars like Volvos.

- make sure all connections are soldered nice. And insulate everything
to protect from grounding. I used an old bicycle tyre as the insulation,
thick and strong.
