Default Charging issue ?

New to me this past summer is a 2002 flhtcui. New hd battery. No problems until i parked it for about 30 days at the end of summer. Went to start it and it was completley dead. Everthing was off that i could see. Just read a old post that said Batteries in storage will loose a good portion of their charge in just 14 days! Is this true? Should i keep it hooked to my tender when not in use? Or do i have a short?

Get a pigtail & connect to battery so you can easily plug in Battery Tender when not riding. My '04 RKC battery lasted until April '12, purchased June '04, 3 months shy of 8 years battery life. Never a day I couldn't ride due to walking out to a dead battery.
