1584 cc, and no it's not a direct fit. Can you make it fit? Someone will be along shortly with more experience than I to answer that

The softail frames are the same; don't see why all won't fit.

I'm also concerned about the belt alignment and pulley being that the 07 had a wider tire

digging found this, this not the same situation?

The later softails also have a narrower 20mm wide belt, so that can be swapped over at the same time as the engine, by using a suitable 20mm rear pulley. The front pulley will be fine. If you stay with your current rear wheel you will be able to use a 150/80 tyre, assuming the engine/trans will swap over.

As for alignment, I use a 1 1/8" belt with the same size rear wheel as the '07 FB. The narrower pulley spaces the belt away from the tyre, but within the overall width of the trans pulley, which is very wide.

GRBrown has you covered. I should have mentioned possible pulley alignment will probably require some adjustment but not an easy fix.

It seems to me that when H-D reduced belt width, they did so from the inside edge. That is to say the outer edge of the narrower belt runs where the outer edge of the older belt runs. When going from my original 1 1/2" wide belt to my current 1 1/8" belt, I gained around 3/8" of clearance between belt and tyre.

The 20mm belt is approximately 7/8" wide. So if the same 'rule' applies, that will provide an additional 1/4" of clearance for the 160/70 FB tyre. I actually have just enough belt/tyre clearance for my Deuce wheel and tyre on my 1990 FLHS, about 5/16".

Hope that adds a little extra!

Skills and tools I don't have. I'm asking because I'm going to have someone do it for me and I have no idea how long in labour hours a job like that would take approximately ? 20hrs? 10hrs? 8hrs? 6hrs?
thanks
