Is the side to side play of flywheels with comp bolted up or removed? If it is removed. The comp being bolted up is the what locks the flywheel to left case on roller bearings.

How is your Oil pump and cam support plate. I have to assume with .107 runout. They are trashed.

How does this happen? My best guess is always engine breaking more than just pure power twisting a crank but your guess is as good as anybody's.

Comp sprocket assembly needs to be in place and torqued, then end play can be witnessed.
If in the loose state, the flywheel assembly will move side to side.

Oops! My bad!

hrdtai78 and Scott's follow up bear out my question as to how the OP determined crank end play is .107" which seems an awful lot. I am betting that the measurement is not the correct measurement the OP should be looking at but wanted to be sure.

I measured the end play before I disassembled the case with the stock bearings. When I grabbed the crank shaft I could see the flywheels visibly moving so using a digital caliper I measured each extreme of movement and did the math.

If this is the case, I wish the service manual would have noted it that way. I'll bolt the case back together tomorrow and put the compensator on and try again.

Actually no, they are not. The tensionor shoe is worn badly after just 7,000 miles which would indicate excessive endplay at least to me.

Back and forth is not a run out measurement. In theory the back and forth should not affect run out. Harley doesn't have instruction to perform run out in case. Fueling, S&S, YouTube .......

Run out measured with crank in case before disassembly was .004" at the end of the pinion shaft.
