Default Am I stupid disliking adjustable pushrods?

I am thinking about getting the HD "torque" cam kit for my '19 Fat Boy special. I'm within the first 60 days and it will be covered under warranty. My problem is I never liked the idea of adjustable pushrods. I used solid pushrods on my FXR, and on my former Road Glide when I did cam changes. Yes, its way more labor, but it eliminated a possibility of failure.

If I go with the HD kit, I probably have to use every component to maintain warranty, but am I nuts for worrying about a pushrod going out of adjustment?

Personally, if I knew I was standing pat with whatever kit/cam/etc I was putting in, I'd have non-adjustables.

No, your idea is not stupid at all.

A hydraulic lifter does not need an adjustable pushrod.

Some will say you can adjust to decrease lifter noise, but the fact is the pressure against the piston in the lifter is the same, no matter what the running position of that piston.

I'm sorry, I meant the quick install pushrods. So they don't have to pull the rocker cover (whatever) to install. Not for adjustability.

Non adjustable are best IMHO, I use them in all of my motors that are stock stroke.
I'm not big on long stroke motors but I have been known to bore them out pretty big.
It's worth the little bit of extra work to remove the rockers and use them if you ask me.

How many times have we heard of adjustable rods failing?

I'm not following. Are you saying adjustables never fail? Or the opposite?

I've not heard of failures unless the installer did not use 3 wrenches to correctly lock them down.... But to each their own...

Dude get a little perspective here, every engine Harley made till the evo's used adjustable pushrods and things worked just fine, only reason they went non adjustable was cost savings for parts and time in assembly, that's it. You got a phobia about it is all. In all the years I've been dealing with them I've seen very few problems and the ones I did usually involved cheap parts or owneritus adjusting them too tight and bending one or more.
