Default Houston we have a problem......Lifter failure

So long story short.....I picked this motor up knowing it had a failed\broken front intake lifter.
The motor is an 09 from an Ultra. Originally a 96, had the Screamin Eagle 110 kit installed (bored cases etc.) kit # 27501-09
I took it down more to inspect it and found the lifter bore pretty flubbed up.
I have researched and found the JIMS lifter bore reamer........
Questions.......Any first hand experience using the reamer...?...
Any other ideas on how to correct it..?...
I would like to save the cases if possible and build up a little hot rod motor with it, unbolt the 103 from my Street Bob and run this one.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.......

I believe Darkhorse sleeves them.

That was a poor casting that did not clean up in the maching when new.

I worked on a GM 4 cylinder that had the same thing in a piston pin bore in a connecting rod. It had actually let piston **** in cylinder. At 100k, it got bad enough that it started tapping when motor warmed up.

mr. king makes a good point, it will require extensive repair with cases separated. do you have the pieces that came out of it?
it is possible that mr. ripsaw could be correct but even a dunce at hd would have sent the case back to the r&r dept. i bought a dodge warlock truck that the machine or idiot setting it up did not home the starting point and all the lifter bores where machined in the wrong position and the cam was in serious radius ride and the cam lasted 3k miles, what a lemon, it caught fire three days into ownership. the idiots at the dodge place just changed cam and lifters which lasted to 8k miles, i guess they did not have the smarts or the will to investigate it. finally, i got involved and had to shim the cam forward so the lifters would ride correctly.
i do not think those are mill marks, seems more like a busted retaining clip eating away at the bore.

Resleeve required. IIRC, both Scott/Hillside Cycles and Kirby/Veetwin Performance can make it right. Not an expensive repair, just time consuming tear down but your motor is already free of the frame. Just split the cases and send away. If planning a "hot rod" motor, might want to do the Timken upgrade and address potential crank issues as well in which case, all you need do is box up the cases and send.

Slippery slope whilst there -I agree with the above plus
Why not do the crank?
