Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I originally posted this in the Milwaukee Eight forum before discovering there is a separate Engine Mechanical sub-forum. I don't see an easy way to delete or move the earlier posting. Below is a rough concept rendering of a direct bolt-in replacement, battery electric drivetrain with microturbine range extender based on the Milwaukee Eight engine.
Variations will allow the use of existing transmission or a virtual clutch and transmission. Just as with Harley-Davidson, every automotive manufacturer, and electric music instrument manufacturers like Line 6 (Yamaha) psychophysics (the perception of how the vehicle feels) and psychoacoustics (perception of how the vehicle sounds) will be customizable via a package that includes a subsonic driver and emulation software development kit.
Les Paul was a hero of mine and I really hated on digital emulation amplifiers until one night when I got a pass to hear Les Paul in New York one night, and he spoke about his work with Line 6 amps, the sound he got was so absolutely incredible that I sold my Marshall stacks that month.
Licensed digital emulation of real world engines and drivetrains under load will be available, recreating the precise infrasound of engine and drivetrains feel and sound piston, ports opening and closing, cam and lifters, et cetera. Riders will be able to sample and create their own sounds and feels including the modification of feedback like advanced flyby-wire systems. (Unlike your car, you will always be able to turn it off or make it so that only you feel and hear it.)
Anyway, the main point is that I've been hunting for the external dimensions and if possible a detailed 3D file to save on work since I am doing this alone. I plan variations for Ducati L-Twin, and the Bipantah inspired next generation Desmoquattro V4, as well as parallel twins, inline 3, 4 cylinder and boxer configurations.
Let respectful members converse without smug, condescending interjections.
Also, I shouldn't need to point out that you never bothered trying to answer the one simple question or could point to a source for the 3D file I asked about. Is there some reason your fragile ego can't let you say, "I don't know."?
