91 Softail heritage classic
Hey all. First post here, first time Harley owner. I inherited a 91 Softail from my biological dad. I'm slowly working out issues on it, I'm fairly mechanically inclined, however this one is eluding me. I had the carb broken down and cleaned by a shop, I've ridden the bike maybe a dozen times since. No issues then last night while riding it started popping back through the carb/air filter while at speed. It finally stalled out and I couldn't restart, I had my fiancee bring me some fresh gas, thinking maybe it ran out, I was able to get it started and get it home ( maybe a mile) popping like crazy. I thought maybe I flooded something, pulled the plugs and checked them but saw no major issues there. Plugs are fairly new within the last 6 months. Should I drain the tanks and refill? Or does it sound more like a timing issue? Or valvetrain? **Edit** this does have an accel 140047 coil on it, and not sure if the spark seemed weak
I can get video if needed if what it's doing while trying to start

Make sure the crossover for the tank isn't plugged and one tank looks full but the other isn't. The other thing is to check the function of the petcock that it is actually flowing fuel. I believe that vintage carb has a screw to drain the bowl that goes to a black drain line. You can check to see if the bowl is getting fuel.

I'm going to end up having to replace a main harness on this bike as the wiring is all messed up I'm finding,
I did find a random wire unhooked down under the oil tank. No way of knowing if it's a ground or even needed I no can't find where it goes to. It's a single thin gauge wire with a rubber boot over it. I'm wondering if it's a ground for the coil or maybe whatever they module is under the seat that says screaming eagle with 8000 rpm on it
