Default Check run out or not?

Maybe a dumb question but.....
10 ultra with 60k doing chain drive cams myself (Andrews 48) bike runs flawlessly. If no intention to consider gear drive is it necessary to check the run out? I don’t have access to appropriate gauge. Unless I ask an Indy to do a house call...

I'll be doing a S&S 551 cam upgrade soon and not going to be measuring that.
Its not broke and I don't need to fret over something I have no control over.........

I wouldn't bother unless there's a problem. Like Rambo says : "let it go."

If you have no scoring in your oil pump, you should be good to go...

Thanks 98hrf, Ran across a video not long back that went over checking and examining the pump and what to look for. I didn’t bookmark it at the time and now can’t find it. Are you aware of anything online?

Here's the real question, if you check the run-out and find it to be out of spec, are you going to do something about it?

If the answer is no, of course you don't need to check it.

If your doing cams you'll most likely be doing oil pump seal/o-rings.. so get the factory service manual and take part.. And remember your doing chain cams... Very forgiving..

Pro twin performance / Baxter's garage has alot of videos on You tube. Kevin went over what to look for on the cam plate and oil pump for wear.
Alot of great content and info in his videos. Check it out
