Default Center crankcase bolt between the cylinders on real big cylinder builds?? Twin Cam

What are you guys doing on the real big stuff for the top center case bolt? The one that gets ate into when boring the cases real big for like 4.250 or larger bores ? In hindsight, I suppose I could have notched or relieved the spigot (sleeve portion below the aluminum jug) even more than it already is. Don’t really like that thought. I’ve seen in s&s instruction for their 124 kits that they include a special bolt but I haven’t seen one. I took a 1/4-20 bolt that was long enough to go all the way thru the cases and use a nut on the other side. Turned it down in the center a little at a time and went back and forth to the engine then back to the lathe till I got it to clear. Wasn’t anything left of it. I did machine away the case where it got super thin and also went ahead and drill out what was left of the threads and spot faced a pad for the new nut on the other side of case

Won't that break when you torque it?

We remove the v-shaped tang and machine it.
Then we use use special extended-length tooling to establish a machined surface for the sealing washer.
Used to "neck" down the center bolts in one of our lathes when doing Axtell 3.812" bores on Shovels and Evo's.
