Question Hi Flow Air Cleaner For M8 Engine And More???

I've come across DK Custom Products, their youtube videos, and their website. Of course they state that they, and only a few other companies, offer TRUELY Hi Flow air cleaners.
They overtly say Arlen Ness Big Sucker doesn't stack up, nor S&S air cleaners, and so on. What do you all know about DKCP? Further, they sure do beat a loud drum on the subject of
cooling down the engine temperatures! They call for taking a collection of steps to achieve that. Some of those are: lifting the tank, adding an oil cooler even if you have one, relocating
the oil filter and changing to a PERMANENT oil filter, installing an external breather unit with either a filter or catch-can, and several other modifications in addition to those.
I also found this video in which the mechanic states that for M8 engine reliability the oil filter, cam plate, lifters and lifter cuffs must be replaced with much better after-market products.
Comments are appreciated on that too!
I am also kind of up to speed on the oil-migration issue and the kit that H-D offers to address that.
I look forward to reading your responses about these questions.
Best regards to you all!

While changing the lifters to a better version is right on, all the rest is BS. If the motor ain't sumping, no reason to change anything else.

DK customs say a lot I disagree with and can be proven wrong. My own 160hp bike has a S&S stealth and rain sock on 100% of the time. Still supports the HP. Very hard set up to beat and under $275. It's the go to AC at my shop. Always keep in mind that these places make videos to sell product. Not necessarily to educate.

Max Headflow,
Thanks for your response !
Please let me double check with you - regarding the video, you think that LIFTER replacement is a good move,
but the made of plastic lifter cuffs, don't need replacing in your opinion.
Obviously you don't think the oil pump needs replacing unless sumping is happening,
and you don't think that the cast cam plate needs replacement.
Thanks again for your info sharing!

hrdtail78,

Thanks very much for answering my question.
You have a 160 H.P. H-D based motorcycle - THAT'S IMPRESSIVE - WOW !
I sure do understand, that businesses are posting up videos with the goal of making more money.
I'm a very investigative sort, by nature.
So if I encounter info that attracts me, I try to find supporting evidence or contradictory evidence BEFORE spending money.
I figure the forums are a place to start.
Thank you again!

The lifters are a definite yes. The lifter cuffs, I'd only think about if you are plaining on running heavy springs and higher lift cams. I know a guy with a TC that tuned a bike without the lifter pins. Found out later that they were missing. Lifters didn't turn without the pins. He didn't assemble the motor. If the lifter roller goes you are likely screwed. I have seen one TC where the lifter roller pin came out and put a groove in the side of the bore where the case was still useable but that guy got lucky. (99c lifters with DM598, only lasted about 20K) Nope on the cam plate. If it's worn out (which I doubt) you can replace it with whatever you want.

Max Headflow,

I'll say "Thank you" again. I am clear on your opinion.

Our dyno testing clearly shows that the S&S filters, with the large element, works VERY WELL.
Very little difference with them on/off once tuned.
All the social media bullshit about changing out pumps/plates, is just that...bullshit.
Even the blue/red plates sump, and just went though that once again.
I use a stock pump, and stock cam plate in my personal 2013 FLHX 131" T/C, and almost ALL of our builds including M8's.
Scott

On the M8's, the factory airbox covers up most of the right side of the engine, restricting the ability of cooling airflow. The S&S Stealth air cleaner assembly is a very clean, uncluttered unit, that even behind the factory cover still flows all the air the motor can use and as a bonus, allows more cooling air around the motor.
