Default 88" 103" Flywheels

Hi, I have a quick question I have a 2003 ultra classic 95" big bore 203 cams, screamin Eagle 10.5-1 pistons I'm replacing the crankshaft I have an opportunity to buy a 2005 Screamin Eagle 103" crank at a reasonable price. Is this a direct bolt in or is there going to be problems with heads and stuff like that. Thanks for any help on this.

If the HD PN is 23600-00A, it is a direct bolt in; check the PN. JMHO but I would use the "Lefty" bearing 24004-03B on both ends.

Going to a 4-3/8" stroke crank from a 4" stroke requires a change in pistons. You need to use 103" pistons in your choice of flavor. You already have 3-7/8" bore.

The crank part number 23728-07A - Fits ’99-’06 Touring and ’99-’05 Dyna models. Just make sure it's not a Softail crankshaft they have for sale.

I knew I was forgetting something; pistons with different pin location. Suggest the OP gets .010" OS pistons and hone cylinders to insure proper fitment.

What is the difference in PNs? I can't see any.

Curious the difference in years. 2002 was last year of timken. 2007 was 96" in touring.

88 and 96 have same bore. They stroked the 96 to get the 88 to 96. Not sure what is compatible though.

I'd think of timken conversion dark horse is one company that does it that is talked about.

Or, the difference is in the rods.

2005 they went to cast over forged. Not sure about compatibility.

OK, so the way I read the two descriptions, the PN I posted, 23600-00A is clear that "stroker" pistons are required but there is no requirement for stroker pistons in the description for PN 23728-07A. Not being argumentative, but there is a difference in the descriptions that I am trying to decipher. So are you saying that the rods are different lengths one crank to another?

The 23600-00A is the SE crank option. It has the full width connecting rods at the piston pin. The 23728-07A is listed in the SE catalog, but is also the OEM crank for the 2005 SE Ultra. It has the later style OEM angle cut rods at the piston pin. Since the OP said he had the chance at a crank from a 2005 SE bike, it's more than likely the 23728-07A crank.

Thanks, didn't know the difference.
