I was riding aeound in the rain up in Laconia. The scoot was running rough. I bought some plugs, and was returning to Weir's Beach when she started running really bad. I pulled into the Dyno testing area near where they sell tires. The guys there (who are wonderfully competent) found that my intake seals were bad, and changed them along with the plugs.
The bike is backfiring, mostly during decel, and is coughing at low RPMs when I start to accelerate.
The carb is a shorty, the bike has S&S Super Stock heads and a cam.
She has always run pretty good, and hauls serious ***.
Where do I start? Carb? Ignition? Any help appreciated.

Hey storm,I too was up there riding in the rain with you,but it only rained on me Friday night, left on Monday, also originally from RI but not the island. Anyway... sounds like you should clean and adjust your carb, did you suck in a lot rain into air filter? Clean that also, start with that then move to electrical..

I don't have an S bent allen wrench. A few odd ball combination ones I've made for various purposes, but no allen wrench ones. I just use the ball end wrenches and a set of regular ones. I have been known to cut one down to "just right" size for various things, but pretty sure I just use standard or the ball end ones on the intake. Another trick is to cut off a hunk of allen wrench that extends out enough and use a small combination wrench on that.
