Default Looking at a used S&S Super E

I was browsing Ebay and found what looks like a good deal on an S&s Super E for 260 with air cleaner assembly. However I have questions about it since S&S is new territory for me.

The seller says it been sitting on their shelf for sometime. Will that open a new can of worms? I mean my carb has issues now and if bought one that been sitting for a long time,I'm concerned that be putting me in the same boat as the CV.

How are they tuned compared to a CV?

What type of air filter? I'm not sure if it uses a proprietary filter and old one from CV wont work. Also need to know what they generally run in price if I have to use an S&S type and where to find them.

How is the performance of one vs CV and fuel mileage?

Anything I need to be aware of doing a change over from old carb to new ?

Ok,so I'm covering my bases before I consider jumping on this cause I really don't want too drop the coin on something that going to be more of a headache for me than what I already have.

They are a great carb and are very easy to tune. You will need the matching intake, new head breather bolts for the S&s backing plate.

What year?
Here's everything you'll need.

If you can afford it buy it.
Your fuel mileage will suffer just a bit but other than that S&S is way better than CV could ever hope to be IMO.

Time you buy a "new" intake,[$100] and possibly rebuild kit, Id just get the whole NEW S&S kit that has it all.

I wonder if one could really tell any difference if both were properly tuned kinda like the difference between single and duel fire coils. That constant velocity carb is a good carb.

He showed me the link to the carb.
The only thing he will need is an air cleaner a maybe a couple of gaskets.
