MKB,
Would like you me to box up that windshield and hardware and send it your way?

No, not right now. I hacked the RK windshield on it for now. Besides, she will be coming back apart real soon for the frame fix and to redo the swingarm. Thanks though.

Went for an extended ride this morning, around 30 minutes on all kinds of roads. The stuff in the swingarm is trashed and it rides like it is too...really squirrely in corners and long sweepers. There is a clunk in the front that I believe is a broken front mount, so that will have to be changed. The engine is STRONG, pulls hard from 2,800 to 6,500, my speedo cable is broke so I have no idea of how fast I was going, but she cruises effortlessly at 3,300 in 5th with tons of power left.

I have to say that I'm VERY HAPPY with my purchase and that this thread has come to an end at this point. She has revealed her name, and has been upgraded from a project to a build now. Alma will come back apart and I will start gathering the parts to make her whole again. To date I've got $1,944.00 into her including the tank, fender, and controls that are coming.

I got clunk in the front of mine..the Heim Joints are tight and none are swinging in the breeze. Might be the fork needs a tune up as it doesn't care whether there's any air in the antidive or not. It doesn't dive and it handles fine.

This whole exercise was to access what needed to be done to make her a reliable rider again. I'm willing to bet that the suspension was worn out and squirrely before the accident that took her out. I expected that she was going to have be torn down, I'm just happy that the drivetrain, although she weeps oil, is in good shape and doesn't need to torn down too...LOL!

If you find anything of value in engine mounts do let us know. I am going to take a very close look at mine and see what's what. Old bikes will dollar us to death but at least we have plenty to keep busy with.
