A few weeks ago I started a project to put this 1980 FLHP back together. I'm familiar with Ironhead Sportsters, Nortons and my 1991 FLHTC. So far I have had the frame powder coated, put on new rims and tires, new steering head and swing arm bearings and had the motor completely rebuilt. That was the easy part. I've been sorting out nuts and bolts, frame pieces etc trying to figure out where all this stuff goes. I hope I've come to the right place to get some help with this. I do have parts and service manuals.
Quite the basket case. Looks good on the parts to reassemble. The only thing out is place is the drive belt. Still chain in 80. You'll be alright it's like a jig saw puzzle and requires patience... I'm sure when it'scompleted it'll look great...Good luck man....
Those must be the "before" pics, cuz that motor looks like it could use some attention
Seriously though, this is a great place and has a lot of folks who will help out. Just post a pic with your question and it makes it a lot easier with parts placement and identification.

Thanks for the replies. I'll post pics of what I have done so far. I have a bucket load of questions, I'll show pics that will help to clearly identify the problems.

Have to agree. That power plant has been sitting a while... Will need some real TLC...

The only thing out is place is the drive belt ... I put belts ( front and rear ) on my 79 FXEF and never looked back. :>)
