Can anyone tell me what cam this is?
Hi all, first post! i have a 1990 Ultra Classic that according to previous owner and documentation, was rebuilt at HD Moco. But i do not recognize the cam in it and did not pull the cam out. so the cam has three timing marks. two dots and one line. the line lines up with pinion (crank), the 8 oclock dot lines up with the line on breather gear, abut what the heck is the dot that is to the right of the line for. with line to pinion at 6 oclock, it appears it would be at about 5 0clock. I'd really like to know what cam this is. doesnt appear to be a ev27 or other andrews and i cannot find any info on web with this timing mark configuration. Anyone know? Here is a pic before i buttoned her back up. in the pick the timing marks are on point just up to the left a little in case you are wondering. Thanks!!

Thanks guys! i thought it should be stock but the dealer tech i talked to told me no because of the 3 timing marks. This bike is just a cruiser with my girl on back. it pulls pretty hard and tops out at 120mph. it's plenty good for our current riding. I do agree on the ev27 or other cams for torque and power.

no, not the paint. The marks on the cam are two dots and one dash for timing. i know its hard to see in the pic unless its enlarged. But, the dash lines up at 6 oclock with the pinion gear and one dot to the left of the dash lines up at 8 oclock with the dash on the breather gear. but there is another dot on the cam just to the right of the dash that lines up with pinion gear. in the pic that other dot is at 6 oclock because my cam is still under tension and the plugs are still in. when rolled forward slightly, the cam, pinion, and breather all line up leaving this other dot at about 5 oclock. i just thought maybe those 3 timing marks could tell someone what type of cam it is. I guess it doesnt matter as i know eveything is lined up correct for breather timing. it's just, you know, you get something in your head that you cant figure out and just want an answer. that's where i am right now.....

I know right? surprised me. Surprised the guy on the GSXR i blew by even more!! Front end was pretty unstable and not confidence inspiring. it may not be completely accurate either as it has the stock speedo on it that maxes out at 120 and it was just approaching maxed at 120mph. held it for a minute. For this bike's purposes that is way more than i need. Thought about gearing it down a little by adding a couple teeth to rear, but first gear is already almost a waste as i have to shift as i reach the end of the intersection from stoplight. If i gear it down it'll just be a 4 speed 2nd through 5th and probably pull wheelies. haha. i should actually probably gear it taller so i have more first gear. Then it might do 130mph!

In that case you'll probably never get to 1000 posts....
BTW: Welcome to the EVO Forum.
Also, if it was a Factory rebuild from The MoCo, they put the stock INA bearing in there. Save yourself some headaches, swap it out along with the cam, if it's stock.
