Default Carb Leaking!!!

I just finished with a swapout of my original CAM to an Andrews EV-13 cam.. Seems that after I did this, I found a leak in the CARB!! ARGH!! After the initial startup I had gas dripping out of the throttle boot...

If you look on the right lower side of the carb.. There is a L shaped rod that goed into a boot (pointing down) and into the throttle (whatever ??) on the front side of the bowl.

My question is....

How hard is it to get the carb out, and 2.. How can I get this piece removed and replaced.. Also.. What am I looking at for tuning after I do this?? Will I have issues with anything?? The bike actually idles better now WITH the new cam than it did before.. Which I really wasn't expecting... Much smoother now...

If anyone has any experience.. Please share it!!

Thanks in Advance..

If you swapped your cam, the carb removal is a snap. I would've thought the carb would have been offduring the cam swap.

What is that, the accellerator pump rod or something? If so, I don't think the carb has to come out, but it wouldn't hurt to replace all the rubber, check for clogged jetsand check your float height while your at it.

LOL....

I can do mechanical swaps... Those are easy.. There is WAY TOO MUCH BLACK VOODOO in a carb!!! [:@] I don't totally understand it all myself...

It is the accellerator pump rod boot by the way.. Good catch...

I do understand idle adjustments however..

I'm heading to the stealer now to see what they have for me to purchase.. Then I'm heading to the MN Wild Playoff game #4 against the Ducks.. GO WILD.... [8D][8D][8D]

Thanks for the quick answer!

No kidding.. I thought we were out of it during the first 2.. Then they finally woke up!

I really liked seeing the Wild team I'm use to.. I did however stop at StP Harley and got my parts.. It's amazing that 1 washer, 1 diaphram and a boot came to $24!!! WOW That is what it cost me to do the entire gearcase!!!

Oh, well.. :|

Hey, are you going on the flood run this Sat?

I don't think I'll make the Flood Run. I'm about to start (and hopefully finish) sanding and polishing my forward controls tomorrow and get my bike running Friday (took the day off cause I just can't take it any more). Hopefully she'll start up nicely after the added goodies.

Any tips for ignition timing? I just lined up the cam sensor as close as I could with the marks I had made. Should I attempt to time it as soon as she'll idle on her own? Or if it sounds OK should I ride her to normal running temp then time?

I made a good mark witha sharpie.. My bike idled so poorly before that I thought the thing wouldn't start or for the most part run like @#!@... I was presently suprised that the bike actually idles better than before, and runs like a champ..

As for a normal bike.. You most likely should do the timing.. That would be a good idea..

I wish you good luck getting your bike all back together.. I think I just got pretty lucky...
