Default Signal light question

Is it possible to change out just the dual filament bulb socket on my 93 Softail Classic or do I have to replace the entire left front signal light assembly?

Nobody? I think I try just replacing the center contact piece and if that doesn't work I change the whole housing.

I dunno about your bike in particular, but every one I have seen has had that socket spot welded or riveted in to the housing. Given the vibrations and shocks that the bikes get, replacing the whole assembly is probably best, but if you can figure out how to get the replacement socket to stay put, go for it.

I had one go bad and bought a used assembly at a swap meet. I never looked to see if it was rebuildable but, if it is it will be difficult if yours is like mine. If it's bad you have nothing to lose by trying I suppose.

Well I fixed it. The bulb holder was indeed in there permanently but the contact socket assembly was removable so I swapped it out with one of these:

$2.95 at Advance Auto Parts. A little solder, a little shrink tubing and zip-zip Bob's yer uncle good as new.
