Talking 91 ultra. Problem solved. !

Thanks to response and advice from Dr Hess & others the problem with the Ultra spewing oil out of breather has been resolved. The oil now returns to the Oil Tank. The motor sound good although I havent run it for long due the bike being in my front room. Some wiring to be sorted out now. Just one other question....the Starter Relay on my bike has got 4 wires leading in to it.
In the Factory Manual it shows 5 wires. Any ideas as to which is the right set up. My Ultra is a European model if it makes any difference.

Hi Bungo, great news and well done. As for your relay your bike is a year younger than mine which also shows five connections in the manual. Is one of them an earth/ground through a mounting stud? I can't readily get to my bike at present to check!

Our bikes are 'International' spec, something not reflected in my manual. I contacted H-D UK early on in my ownership and they explained that our harnesses were hand built away from main production, in small numbers, which is why there are no correct wiring diagrams in the books and even they didn't have any!

Yes Graham,I had a feeling that the wiring might be peculiar to the European
spec bikes. On the "last lap" now with the Ultra and it should be out and ready for its MOT within next 7-10 days. Couldnt have completed the wiring without Jason who is a Honda Technician and a superb electrical engineer to boot .
Mind you, after almost 2 years restoration, it fired up first click which surprised me as I had done all mechanical stuff myself.
Hopefully will have pics on forum soon.

Thumbs up

Mine has more thermal cutouts than in the book, plus a strange relay on the accessories switch that cuts all power. I've removed that relay recently, but have yet to complete my own wiring mods and test that everything still works.

Looking forward to seeing yours back together and running!
