Default Tank Bib

My 1992 FLSTC has an old leather tank bib that was adhered to the tank with silicone. I want to replace it with as close to OEM as I can.

Was leather original on that bike?

Or was the original metal?

V Twin Manufacturing or JP Cycle better for parts?

How is it supposed to be attached? There is an empty threaded hole just in front of the seat. Is something supposed to attach there?

At the top, is it supposed to attach to something under the instrument panel?

There is more noise riding it without the bib. Are there sound dampening qualities I should consider in selecting a replacement bib?

Just want something simple and effective. Nothing flashy, but I want a quality look. I prefer the look of leather, but would consider a metal bib if that is OEM.

Thanks as always

#1 you should have a length of leather lace that you can tie in a loop then push it through and then loop it over the seat tab mount.

#2 When you bolt down the console it will clamp down on the leather holding it in place.

Mine is OEM. It is a plastic thing that is held down on the rear by a small allen screw. I don't like it and I have been searching for a while for something better but haven't found quite what I wanted to replace it with it yet.

Thanks, this will work for now. I do not have the leather lace, but the holes are there. I have put a line through it that will work for now. Maybe get leather later.

I also found a metal part for $20 I have ordered. I will see if I like that.

Mine has a little pocket that's handy for keeping my registration and insurance card in, but it's old and curled from moisture (bike sat outside some before I bought it). I'd like to replace it but the MoCo wants around $100 for one. I wouldn't mind paying that but I want something nice.

Captain Itch, I'll look over your offerings.
