Default vance and hines pro pipe touring....

put my engine all back together today...go to put the vance and hines pro pipe on and the header doesn't fit! its a 89 tour glide classic....am i missing something? every other touring exhaust on ebay, thunderheader, etc...lists for 85-16....the header doesn't have a o2 bung, so its gotta be for earlier bikes.
can anyone tell from the pic, what its for? I was so excited to get rid of that pain in the **** oem exhaust...it was a nightmare to get off, don't want to put it back on.

I think I figured it out...its for twin cam bikes...is that right?

I thought I had the same problem once, it turned out it was the angle I was putting it on, tried another approach, fit perfect. Just my 2 cents, you may have another issue.

huh..........it seems to hit the rear brake pedal....and sticks out away from the bike..i can get it on the exhaust bolts. not sure why they don't work with older bikes like everyone else.

on another note....is there a set of 2 into 1 headers I can buy that will work with the pro pipe muffler? I see paucho has 2 into 1 headers that are the same diameter 1 3/4'...but does that mean it will join to the muffler?

For reference, you can take a look at my 89 EG. From your picture, the rear header seems to have more of a curve than on mine. Don't know. I also needed a different bracket than the OEM that mounts to the tranny trap door.

Don't know if this will help....

A couple of the issues I had when I installed the Thunderheader on my 1993 FLHS.

It would not lay close to the frame until:

I had to totally remove the right side floorboard.
You will need to extend the right floorboard. Kuryakyn makes a kit.

I have the chrome cover that goes from the transmission to the engine. I had to put a 'ding' in it to get clearance between that and the rear pipe.

I actually removed both right side floorboards and swiveled the mount out of the way to get the oem one off. Freaking eBay seller listed it for a evo Electra glide. It's obviously not. But it's been so long since I bought it, I'm stuck with it. I don't like it super loud so I really like the pro pipe with a smartpartz baffle. Paucho has the 2 into header but then u need to buy heat shields. I like cutting all the extra weight of the oem too. The only other one is the supertrapp but I'm not sure how quiet it gets.
I think cobra makes one that fits that's like the pro pipe but I need to double check. Unless someone has a better idea for the pro pipe muffler to make it work

Those definitely look like they're for a Dyna. Looks like you might have been misled, sorry dude....

Maybe it's for a softail. The mounting bracket for the dyna isn't the one I have. Anyone recognize this one?
