In that pic it doesn't look as if the pushrod was seating properly in the lifter cup on the right one. And the left one looks as if the cup is deeper which will affect the amount of preload on the whole valve train making it looser and noisier.. As stated before.... Get a good quality set of lifters...

Those lifters are not right for sure! Lifters out of an old chevy 350 will work; but, I sure wouldn't use them.

I think the correct thing to say is that they will fit. S&S does show a YouTube video of them fitting but it takes over one full minute for them pass oil to the rockers..... heads are starving for oil.

The video you are referring to is a comparison of Lifters used in a GM engine and lifters sold by S&S for use in HD Twin Cam engines.

This thread is discussing lifters for an EVO engine, that is why I questioned the post made by Ridetothehill...

Yeah I would never use SBC lifters in an Evo. Big difference between 6 psi and 40 psi oil pressure at idle.. which one do you think will allow more flow?

Think everyone is missing Dan's point, a Chevy lifter cannot work in a Evo, different guide system.

Update!
Thank you guys for your helpful advice! This week I got new lifters from Feuling series HP+ Performance parts. Installed them today. Perfect result! The tick is gone. Engine sounds just like it did with stock cam and lifters. No extraneous noises. I'm happy as a penguin, thanks to you all!
Life's good!
