Default Unknown Part. HELP!

Not quite sure how all this works guys, but I have an '87 FLHTC, I have had this bike for a long time, long enough I should know where this part goes. At the beginning of the winter I took the inner and outer fairing as well as the gas tank. But I for the life of me can NOT figure out where this part goes. It appears to be a cable guide of some sort but I have traced them.

Anyone??

I think you're right that it's a cable guide, but I don't recall ever seeing one like that on my '90.

Best I can suggest is look for screw hole where it mounted. It's got to be there somewhere.

Any chance you were also working on a lawn mower and accidentally mixed parts?

There is always that possibility, and it has really ran through my head. Its very possible but I just don't recall doing that in depth of work to it.

Not something I recognise either, although it is a useful looking thing!

Does give me an idea for my next prank. After the wrench clanking, toss some random part from something or other on your buddy's work bench.

OMC on your Harley? I know it's been raining, but this is a mod that you guys haven't told me about. Are the controls on the bars, or do you still have to reach behind you?
