Default American ingenuity

So, was at Wallyworld getting a couple of things. Noticed a guy wearing a colors cut working on his semi- rat bike. Asked if he needed help ( I never leave a rider stranded). He said he needed a nut a nd bolt. So he hopped in the dually and I took him to the hardware store 3 miles or so away and he got what he needed. Got back and he explained his chain tensioner had "exploded". He went in the store and bought a new skateboard. Asked him what that was for. He took 2 of the polyurethane wheels off the skateboard. End result was he cranked it up a nd blew outage there. The pic explains it all.

Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Keeping it real

We used to do that on dirt bikes back in the 70's.

Some simple maffs led to the skateboard wheel speed (chain speed) of about 20 MPH at 2000 RPM. I think that would get you home if you took it easy.

Been done for years, usually on final drive. If it works it works

Pretty cool adaptation. Hope the bearings are as American as the ingenuity.

I was wondering how long that compensator will last with no lubrication. Looks like tweaker engineering to me.....

Any trail fix that works and gets you home is a good fix

I've seen skateboard wheels used to take the saggy slack out of a chain conversion on sportsters before but that's a good idea
