My suggestion if you are going to keep this bike, is get a factory service manual. Got mine on Ebay for $80 slightly used for my 98 ultra classic with MM EFI, as yours does. Not Chilton Manual. This site has a search function. YouTube has many vids on the Magnetti Marelli EFI. Ken

turn the ignition ON OFF ON OFF then ON and leave it on. If you do it just right, you'll see the check engine light start blinking rapidly. Then after it gets done blinking, it will stop briefly then start blinking out the stored fault codes (if it has one). Otherwise if no codes, you'll just get a bunch of rapid blinks. Usually, if your bikes runs good, there won't be any codes. Usually.

When you do get a code, you have to count the blinks. All codes are two numbers. It will flash the first code slowly so count the number of blinks to get the first number. Then it will flash rapidly, stop, then give the second digit of the code. Count that one then put them together to get the final code. If you have one code, this number repeats endlessly until you shut it off. If you have more than one code, the next one comes right after the first.

Now don't get discouraged if you can't get the codes out. It's all in the speed that you turn the ignition on/off/on/off/on. it will take some practice. There was one guy here some time back who never could figure it out. Took me several tries the first time too. You'll know when you get it.

You're on your own to find out what code corresponds to what fault. I know from memory that a bad head temp sensor is code 14. I think a bad cam position sensor is code 56. Those codes are in the factory service manual and also in this section of the forum. Search for them.

The voltage to set the TPS sensor is in the FSM. There is also directions on how to set it on this forum and there is a youtube video. I think it's .275 with the idle screws out and the butterflies completely closed but look for it in writing to be sure. The TPS sensor is sensitive as hell. I adjusted mine using a small hammer. Dig the epoxy out of the screw heads, then loosen one and retighten it. Now loosen the other and tighten it kind of snug. Loosen the other and snug it a little too. You want it just loose enough to be able to tap the housing with a small hammer and move it a tiny bit at a time. When you hit your number, tighten the screws and recheck the voltage. Buy a lottery ticket if you hit it the first time.
