Default Help Identifying Mystery Plug

Got a used 98 fxdl and have been replacing all fluids, checking gaskets, etc. I was finishing up some maintenance today when I noticed a connector which had no connection by the carb, coming from under the tank. Does anyone know what this connected is for? I checked my manual but didn’t have any luck.

I suspect it is for the stock air cleaner flapper that opens when you turn on the ignition and closes when you shut the bike down.
It's an emissions thing...just a guess.
We have that kind of stuff on California bikes.
