Electrical issue maybe?
Hi ALL!
New to the site as well as my HD. I purchased a 91 FLHTC 3 years ago, all original with 29K. I've had no issues at all until I rode in a rainstorm. Occasionally my radio would shut off then I noticed I didn't have any gauges that work manually except for RPM and speedo. Day later everything worked fine then a week down the road it happened again. I got into it a little and moved the starter relay around a bit and noticed I've got some cleaning to do. Cleaned it all up, put everything back together and now I hear a clicking noice back behind the radio. Bike starts perfectly. But like I said, I occasionally have no gauges and radio shuts off. Kind of like it loses power. I've read blog after blog to find only rider that said he changed his starter relay and things worked fine. I'm going to order 1 as it looks like a cheap part to troubleshoot. Im planning a long ride and need my stuff. Any ideas?

Sounds like what happened to my '90. Starter relay (the one under the right side cover) fixed it.
The only thing in your description that leaves me wondering is you said the tach stays on when this happens. If it's the starter relay getting ishy, the (mechanical) speedometer will operate, but all the other gauges go dead.
