Default Another Bone Head Move

They say its not if but when:

Stopped at a year sale with the heritage, Deployed the kick stand and got off the bike took about 4 steps away and turned to look at the bike just in time to watch it go crashing down. Surprisingly little damage considering there are no crash guards. left mirror, rear footboard, passing light trim ring, and scratched the front bumper. I had visions of the tank being screwed up but nothing.

Oops.

What happened? Soft ground? Kickstand tab slipped out of it's retainer? Too much slope?

Glad the damage wasn't any worse than it was.

Worst situation I ever saw first hand was when my brother and I were younger and still figuring things out. I had a job interview and he rode along with me. We parked in front of the spot I thought it was, which was a brick warehouse with a loading dock out front and a big wood staircase and landing. We pulled in next to the staircase and stopped and he put down his kickstand. I parked my bike and we both killed our engines.

Before he could take off his helmet or lean his bike on the stand I thought I made a mistake and had the wrong building, so I yelled over to him ‘wrong place!’ He flipped up his kickstand and started to walk his bike backwards. almost immediately I spotted a sign that said office with an arrow up the stairs, realized it was actually the right place, so I yelled ‘oh wait there’s a sign, this is it!’ He goes ‘oh cool’ and goes to lean his bike back down on the kickstand. Completely forgot he had just flipped it up.

So he leans hard to the left to put the bike on its stand, and by the time he realizes the stand isn’t there anymore the bike is way past the tip over point. It basically grabs his left leg and whips him down with it. His helmet whacks off the edge of one of the stair treads with a loud crack, and he slumps under the bike pinned between it and the staircase. These are big outdoor pressure treated wood steps all tough and coarse and the whole thing shook from his head. I thought he was dead.

I pulled his bike up off him and he gets up completely fine, neck a little stiff, takes off his helmet and there’s a huge chunk out of it from the step. Craziest thing I ever saw and just lucky he hadn’t taken the helmet off yet.

Funniest I saw was my younger brother, riding my bike. Pulls in the driveway and gets off the bike never even attempted to put the stand down. Only damage was to his ego. Never let him ride my bike again.

Ohama,

paved road, I must of not had it fully forward. I was only about 2 miles from home. I parked the bike in the garage and a couple hours later i notice a small puddle of oil. Now im thinking the worst. I wiped it off of the bottom of the primary Nothing there today so im thinking it was just run off from the trans vent. while it was horizontal

Gunking my engine near the end of my driveway. Went to go for a ride and turned a little on the driveway cut to the street and SLIP, it was like there was no front wheel ! 85 FLH.

Stopped the bike to tell the cops about some kids breaking windows at the movie theater around the block. Walked over to them. Bike was too upright and fell over on the side opposite of the stand. They asked if I needed any help. I said no, just go after the kids! 85 FLH

Had a friend in high school who used my 650 Yammer to do his driving test and he did the exact same thing in my driveway.. Just had to fix the turn signal.

I've caught the bike a couple times due to not putting the stand down.. A real eye opener....

That happened to me once at the gas station, but I caught it while it was going down and sprained my back. At least you didn't get hurt. Metal can be fixed.
