I'm the 3rd owner (and hopefully last) owner of a 1995 FLHCTU.
What began life as an Electra Glide Classic Ultra, is being patiently changed into a custom Street Glide. When I got it, there was 42,800 on the bike and 400 on a new factory crate engine (install and service done by Alamo HD, in San Antonio). The bike was in excellent condition, but really, just not my "style". But the price of $9,500 was definitely my style. Especially with a new engine (and warranty) and a front to back service. I've since sold about $1,200 worth of extra weight off the bike and added about $200 back on, brigning my investment to date to about $8,500. Still got a ways to go, but I'm patient. (BTW, I'm keeping the King Tour Pack and setting that up for a quick disconnect setup and also will be modifiying the frame to fit an FLHX seat.)
Here's what it looked like when I got it...

And this is how it looks today...

Yes FLHX consoles, will fit older FLH's. (it's *really* simple)

This is my 96 FLHTCI and two weeks ago we returned from a 4966 mile 14 state tour. I like the talk about power from the new bikes but honestly can not find a reason to get rid of a perfectly good motorcycle plus the fact that I do all my own maintenance including tire changes. I have a best friend that rides a 95 FLHTC and I always tell him the EVO's are the Panheads of tomorrow. I caught Sturgis the last day of the rally (planed) and it's defiantly a twinkie world out there. The only other Evo's I saw were being ridden by folks that had been riding them for years.I've owned this bike since 99 and have put a tad over 60,000 miles on it and ridden through 29 states and plan to do all of the lower 48 on this bike.Even if I need a new motor the price of a factory remanded motor is probably about the same as a twinkie hop up from 96 to 103 by a HD shop.
If I can get this to work, here is my 90 FLHTCU. I got it a couple of months ago for 5k and have just finished adding pipes and air cleaner. I've done a few other things and will be making a sissy bar to fit it soon so my wife and kids feel more comfortable. I love this bike! It only has 29k on it and runs great. Sooner or later I'll tear into the engine, but for now it is all smiles.

and one of the engine.

and one of the engine.

here is my 93 fatboy that I had picked up last year for $8500 with 10,000 miles on it from the original owner (unmolested bike) i have put a new back tire on it, changed all of the fluids, and rebuilt the carburator while installing a thunderslide re-jet kit. all I have to say is that it is better looking than any twin cam, has more power than a 88 cube (stock for stock), and is all mechanical (not fuel injected, no one peice gas tank, etc. etc. etc.
