The primary chain (that someone already mentioned) can cause excess vibration, and if you're wheels are not ballanced...

mine vibrated some when i got it a couple years ago, but got a lot worse when i put on the true duels, not sure exactly why, but it made it worse... oh well....

what helps me is putting my feet on the highway bars at freeway speeds, anything over 60... seems less vibration than the floorboards for whatever reason.

 

You`ll get used to it,just like all riders prior to rubber-mounts.The old motors vibrated a lot more than EVOs.The foot boards are cushion mounted and isolate as well and fancy peg,only you can change the pressure point with footboards making them far more comfortable.Always nice to lift off the seat over rough stuff,too.The old foot boards were solid mount,no cushions.I recommend riding an old bike to appreciate the smoothness of an EVO and the various little bit of cushioning provided.Mine`s a stroker,I run stock-style grips,and only wear gloves when it`s cold.You`ll get used to it.It`s just how Softails are.They are built for a look more than touring.But,you can do it.Mine splits sheet metal,but it`s not as bad on me.

 

did not notice any thing on my 96 Ultra except stoped at a idle

 

Agreed, my RK shakes my arms idling at stoplights, which is annoying cause the latch on the fairing bag rattles. But off idle the vibe isnt bad at all. Not to mention that it sure is cool to see it sitting there idling in the driveway with the whole thing bouncing, makes me think it's saying "let's go already!!!".

My buddies TC RK seems to vibrate more than my EVO does.

 

It is an evo so there will be some vibration. but i was in the same place as you. I finally took my in for service and they found both wheel bearning were shot. After replacing both wheels it was like a new Harley. I would recommend talking it in and having a full service done. You may be suprised what they find.

 

I had a 1999 Fatboy that I built and because it is a solid mount I balanced the bottom end of the engine and that makes a big difference.The bike only has 12,000 miles on it and now you know why.

I don`t agree with all the posts that say to get used to the vibration...

I have been riding a solid mounted EVO for 21 years. Feet never feel like they are going numb, nor do my hands.

If the engine is vibrating that bad, something is not right.

Check ALL motor mounts and transmission mounts. A loose mount, especially motor mount, will cause a bad vibration.

Lots of other good ideas offered here.

 

I tend to agree... On an older Sportster or SoftTail, there will naturally be more vibration than a rubber mount.. Thats part of the reason I have a Dyna.. But, that doesnt sound normal.. Do you have a buddy that has a SotftTail you could ride, or let him ride yours to see if its normal?? Maybe an independant shop who has a good reputation and knows what an EVO should feel like.. Just a thought...
