Enclosed Chain conversion update.
Well the project is underway for converting enclosed chain to belt drive(final).I posted here last week asking for advice but didnt receive much help.So in typical fashion i jumped in head first, its not an easy task nor is it for the faint of heart,as it requires destroying a irreplaceable inner primary.Anyhow im not finshed just yet as im still waiting on the parts to finish but i will try to keep everyone updated. If anyone would like more info feel free to ask as i will have a complete parts list available soon.
This would have been a good project to do last fall when you put the bike up. The pieces you are replacing/destroying are going for big bucks at swap meets. The people looking to restore the bikes that had these pull their hair out looking for them. Just some food for thought!!
I assume you are talking about the primary drive/crank to clutch basket ( not final drive which is front tranny pulley to rear wheel pulley).
I went with primary belt kit by Rivera Primo called the Brute III. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/600-791
Was able to use the stock inner and outer primary covers and put screens on the Derby and inspection covers for cooling the belt.
Had a tranny seal oil leak that took out a brand new belt. Leak fixed and new belt on so good so far. Really like the front belt drive as it is lighter weight so engine is more responsive.
Down side is noisy clutch ( dry now) rattling through the mesh Derby cover.

I had a brute 3 on my old evo chopper. I loved that set up. I ran a fully vented cover with no derby or inspection covers (pic below). I also loved the sound it made. The cool part is if you do have a leaky seal it takes no time at all to pull it off or pop it back on. I plan on putting a primo or bdl just like it on my 97
I would also recommend pulling your rotor and checking your motor seal. If it is leaky put a new one on there with the rubber side in. I know JP also sales higher end seals for running belts.

Thanks. She is long gone. Don't know why I did not just keep her and leave it all alone. Seems I am going back to just what I had back then.
