How hot should the engine be running-head temp?
hey guys my - no more fried thighs - are getting pretty darn hot on the left leg, I did switch to dual exhaust, but I'm also wondering if I'm running to lean. What should an average be when reading the temperture on the heads.
I did buy a Thermal temp gun to see how bad it is, but have to wait for it to arrive, just getting ready for when it arrives.
Hi John at mia cycles are you out there?
Thanks

Depends on a lot of things, like if you're moving or stationary, ambient temp, load, etc. On our Sportster, I have datalogged it with the EFI and typical cruising temp is around 180F, say 160-190F. If you let it sit idling, it will go up over 220F. A box fan pointed at the motor drops it down quite fast. This is from a calibrated thermistor bolted to the head at the middle motor mount on the front cylinder head.
