Default Engine cutting out

I just inherited my dad's 1999 Heritage-Springer. When I am riding on the freeway, it cuts out, and I have to downshift to get the rpms back up, so I can shift back into 5th gear. It seems to happen at higher speeds, or if climbing a hill in the wind, any time the bike is working hard. Would re-jetting the carb give me more top end, and get rid of the problem? Any input would be appreciated....Thanks!

Since it's your first post welcome to the forum! You should consider posting a note in the new members area as entry etiquette, but your still welcome.

A more detailed synopsis would be helpful if possible so could you provide a better definition of "it cuts out"?
Is it just down on power or do you hear and or feel (or hear) it hesitate, sneeze, or pop? Any other symptoms?

Welcome to the forum from the UK! Fill in some of the details in your profile, so we know where you are and a bit more about you.

As V2Evo96 says, we need to know a bit more about this so we can be more helpful. We can often fix things, even from the other side of the world!

Possibly a tear in the CV carb rubber diaphragm ? You never get full throttle
