I think what he is saying is, why bother jacking it up and turning the rear tire to turn the motor over by hand, just use the starter to do that..personally i think that would be fine, a little squirt of oil in each cylinder, leave plugs out, put in battery, give it a few cranks, put in plugs and begin trying to start it.

You might want to try some "Marvel Mystery oil" it works well in these cases.

Oh, yeah, that's what I would do too, guys. Hit the starter button a few times for 15-20 seconds, catch the oil blowing out the breather, put the plugs in, start it up.

Smile Need Your Saddle Bag Measurement

Hey Dr.Hess

Need your help if you will please.

Here's my long story.
What a beautiful bike you got there buddy

Here's what up with me. Got a 1985 Evo Classic
Took all the body parts off to be painted. Fairing,Front & Rear Fenders, Gas Tank, etc, etc.

I sanded all parts down with 400 grit like my buddy painter told me too.

The bike is orginally blue. I'm making it BLUE & SILVER.

If you like at you posted picture. Look between the
saddle bag railings. You have a pin stripping there, so do mine. I need a wider design going thru the two railing with space between the upper & lower rails.

Maybe about 1 1/2" to 2" high fiting between the railing WHEW ! Sorry for the novel.

My BIG question; Can you give me a measurement from the bottom of you saddle bag clearing the bottom railing ?

I do hope I explained myself as to what I need if you will please. Ask any question you need to in order
for my to make it clearer.

I NEVER TOOK THAT IMPORTANT MEASUREMENT I FORGOT.THE
PAINTER NEEDS IT IN ORDER TO LOCATE THE STARTING POINT OF THE DESIGN ~ WHEW AGAIN

Smile My Mileage On My ' 85 Classic

Hey Bagga

Got a little over 44,000 miles on her. I'm rebuilding and redesigning it now.

Its in the first stages of paint now and as soon as
the Blue & Silver is done on it. I'll put all the pieces back together (GOD willing) again and then buy that S&S Super "E" Carb.

Check out some of the new paint so far. Its got to be buff still & second color got to be put on.

i like the color you chose. my 85 is the stock candy burgundy and slate gray. 2 tone paint was an extra $250 in 85.

In '86, "Vivid Black" paint was an extra $100. That got you black paint with red pin stripes instead of black paint with gold pinstripes.

Schooner, I'll look this evening. If I understand what you want, you want the distance from the bottom of the sadelbag to the top of the lower side rail, right?

Also when you do get it started after sitting four years its going to puke some oil on the ground, its perfectly normal when this happens after sitting for a while...
