My 99 has a 45 pilot and 180 main. Drag pipes and K&N air cleaner. Otherwise stock and runs great from idle to wide open. 48 to 52 mpg.

Funny I just tore mine down to see why I have bad carb farts. Found I have a 70 and a 165. If my eyes are good. Stock pipes and a/c. Is this normal??

Has a 42 pilot. Going for a 45 later tonight. Hope this ends my carb backfiring.

These days I'm running a Mikuni HSR42, but back when I had the CV carb, I ran a #45 pilot jet, 185 main jet and mixture screw 2 1/2-3 turns out. this was a Heritage with a stock motor with SE air cleaner and H-D (Kerker) 2 into 1 exhaust.

Stock for '94 was a #42 pilot jet, but a 45 worked better. For my setup, a 48 was a bit too rich. The factory went back and forth on the main jet over the years, but the '94 came with a 185 stock.

The bike ran quite well with this setup, and returned 50 MPG on the highway. I wish the Mikuni would do as well.

Thanks guys. I ran the 45 and the ever so rare 46, but the 48 (and 3 turns out) is what is working best for my low jet. That being said, I ride at basically sea level most of the time. When I was back in Illinois, the 45 and 46 was the jet of choice. I just haven't gotten around to it yet, but the 185 is going back in this weekend. Sucks that its raining and I can't even check it out.

I forgot to mention that I live at 1100 feet, so that might account for the difference in pilot jets.
